cLAY/Dough:workshop

Reykjavik Art Museum - Hafnarhús, 11.07.2021

Curated by Mál/tíð, made in collaboration with Berglind Erna Tryggvadóttir, a part of the project series: "Is that something on bread?"

You are invited to create sculptures from dough, which will be baked on the spot. Participants are invited to take the sculptures home after the baking process. The workshop reflects on the craftsmanship that goes into bread making by using the dough as an artistic medium, and how our mood and personality transfers onto this live material in the process of creating.

The workshop is a part of a larger project titled “Is That Something to Put on Bread?” where Anna and Berglind explore Icelandic bread making and the different personal connections people have to the baking process and bread as a phenomenon. Other elements of the project include a three-part radio show on the National Public Radio, Rás 1, and a creative pop-up bakery that will open in Þórshöfn on Langanes from the 21st of July until the 2nd of August 2021.

The work is sponsored by The Icelandic Student Innovation Fund
