Inter-bite (2022 - ongoing)

Inter-bite is an ongoing research-based project by Agnes Ársæls and Anna Andrea Winther where they explore the cohabitation of people and animals in everyday life through the act of sharing a snack.

Snack time is a moment of in-between, a pause where you can take a moment to rest, enjoy with yourself or in the company of others. In the project, Agnes and Anna ask how does this informal pause appear in the intersections of human and animal lives? Is it possible to give that time increased value, as a moment to connect?

When humans offer animals a snack, it is often framed as a reward for good behavior from a human owner to an animal pet, an act that confirms the narrative of humans being the superior species. The artists made tableware specifically designed to make it easier for animals and humans to have a snack, or an inter-bite, together on a more equal footing.
