Stripped Bare (2018)
Installation and nine day performance at Reykjavik Art Museum, Kjarvalsstaðir from the group exhibition Út á tún
The performance was based on one of the first factory made foods in Iceland, the cream-filled biscuit, which got the nickname Sæmundur in his formal clothes (Sæmundur í sparifötunum) as Sæmundur was the factory manager and the biscuit was fancy as it was filled.
On the left hand side around 3000 pieces of discarded biscuits from the factory are aligned on the hourglass table. The performer takes a part the biscuits one by one, undoing the work of the factory in a seemingly practical way and making it hand-made again. The final step makes the work of the performer crumbles into a small pile.
